Remote locations and car shipping
Winter remote locations are just around the corner. People who live in smaller towns and hard to aaccess in the winter months may experience more dificulty in speedy and affordable
auto transport. The reason? Besides the weather some trucking companies or
carriers cut their routes or "lanes" down during
winter months because its just not as profitable for them. To avoid paying more and to ensure a timely pick up of your vehicle arrange to drive it to a terminal this winter in the nearest and
largest city. This will expedite the delivery and also bring down the cost of your car shipping.
You just bought a car on
ebay motors or clear across the country from some online
automobile classified website. Lets say your paying a cool umm... umm.. $40k for it. Now what? Well you got a few options. Send the funds certified of course, wait until the car arrives from the
auto shipping company and inspect it. This isn't what he/she said. This is dented and the nightmare begins. Not so good. Protect yourself from legal battles or headaches. Use an
escrow service to hold funds until you have okayed and inspected the car. Also have the seller take pictures of the vehicle to be sure its not damaged during transport. Once you okay the deal the funds are released to the seller. Sounds like a better option? It is!
Pick up and delivery are often a source of confusion in
auto transport. Sometimes customers want there vehicle picked up and transported on a specific day and sometimes its a weekend day. Remember typically a person is given a pick up window for their car transport. This could be a two day or longer window. "guaranteed" pick up days are available but will ususallly cost more.
Automobile Transporters will also pick up on weekends and some times holidays depending on their shipping schedules.
Carrier vs. Auto Transport brokers
We often get calls from
auto transport consumers that ask if we are a broker or a carrier and they don't want to use a
auto transport broker but want us to put them in touch only with carriers. While this approach can make sense its not always the best solution. As we have discussed before carriers do own their own trucks. Some carriers can and will also broker your automobile out if they have their
broker authority. So don't be fooled and ask if your demanding a
carrier. The disadvantage is if your looking for the best auto transport rate, and a carrier may not be the way to go as if they are using their own trucks are limited to their own inventory and routes.
Auto transport brokers will shop it around and may be able to
move your car sooner as they have multiple
trucking companies to shop probably within their own network.
