Memorial Day Weekend: Official Moving Season Has Arrived!
Memorial Day weekend 2007 is upon us. That's like the opening day kickoff in the National football league in early September for the moving season and related transport services. It represents summer - the time people buy & sell houses, finalize some decisions- like taking on that new job, or purchasing that car or moving to a new state.
For moving & auto transport companies that's great news. After a slower winter they are ready for business and accommodating your needs. You can expect costs to be slightly higher this summer moving season because if inflated gas prices unless we see some relief, which is not likely this summer travel season.
To keep your transport & moving costs down we recommend the following:
1. Book your transport and move well in advance. Plus its gives you more time to research the company you will be using.
2. Get any agreements and verbal promises in writing (as always)!
3. Use trusted and reliable moving sources. Check companies authority and licenses as well as insurance documents. Make sure they are valid. They can easily fax these or emails them to you.
4. When moving throw away any old junk you have been storing or not using in a long time. You can also call a junk removal company to haul it away.
5. Remember items stored in the car during transport are not covered by car carriers insurance!
6. If in the military ask for any available discounts or triple AAA members ask for discounts.
7. Self moving services are available like pods when they drop off containers and bring it to its destination. You have to do all the heavy lifting and packing though!
