Transport Brokers, Carriers & Moving Websites?

Clearing up the confusion.

Most people transporting or shipping cars are first timers. Many households moving its the same for hiring a moving company. So many go online to research auto transport & moving companies.
For auto shipping the results will return most likely websites they offer multiple shipping quotes and maybe a carrier or broker. So whats the difference between them all?
If you refer to our previous post on auto carriers and transport brokers you will see carriers own their own trucks and brokers do not but have connections with a network of carriers to chose from. They will take a "commission" off the top and pay the carriers the remaining money.
The multiple quote websites are neither a carrier or broker. What they do is the marketing & advertising for the companies in the industry, who would rather concentrate on booking jobs than advertising & marketing strategies. Lending Tree.com is a perfect example of this for home mortgages and auto loans.

All are capable of offering great service and rates. Plus the moving websites can save you the hassle of getting multiple quotes. As always upon signing an agreement do your homework on the chosen shipper or mover in the industry!

About Boat Transport & Shipping

One of the more delicate transports are boats. Not all are complicated but what makes them harder are the size and trailer or lack of. Unlike car transport, boats have more involved. If it has a trailer is it in road worth condition? If not your better of not having the trailer shipped ands let the boat shipper use their own. If the boat trailer breaks down most if not all shippers will charge you for their time of waiting to have it fixed which can add hundreds to your transport.

Also the size of the boat. If its very high and wide it may need special wide load boat permits to before its shipped. The transporter can take care of this for you and relay the charges. Smaller boats are obviously much easier from the jet ski to under the 32 foot power boats. Above that and sailboat shipping gets more complicated but is done all the time.
