Clearing up how long it takes to ship cars

There seems to be a bit of confusion when it comes to how long it actually takes to ship vehicles. The straight answer is it depends. It depends on weather, traffic, logistics, and hours of service.
Hours of service? Hours of service are dictated by the federal government (federal motor carrier safety admin) that commercial carriers can drive in a day or without hours off duty. In a nutshell they can drive about 11 hours only after 10 hours of rest.

Add that too unpredictable weather issues, traffic delays and the carriers logistics routes the actual delivery date of a car after its picked up can get somewhat muddled. Again just because the carrier picks up the car doesn't mean its going straight to its destination point. It may go to a terminal from there. If you need you vehicle delivered by a certain date make sure to ask if its a one truck auto transport.
