Shipping Cars that don't run or roll

Buying a car for parts or for a restoration project? Whether on eBay motors or another online site you have to get it from there to your location. We are often asked about the process of transporting a non working car. Here are some tips to help out.

The first thing is to be sure the auto shipper of choice knows that the car is non-operational. If not this can cause delays, confusion and cost you more money in the long run. When the auto shipper knows ahead of time he or she will send the proper equipment to get the vehicle on the truck including a flatbed or tow truck. It does make a difference if the car rolls or does not as well. So be sure to tell the car transporter that. Most online auto shipping quote requests will have a place to input that information.

The second thing to note is many cars if being used for parts have non attached parts. As long as those parts are part of that car its best to have them stored in the trunks or back seat. Car shippers to not have the authority to transport any other personal property.

Shipping costs will vary depending on the vehicle, whether it rolls (rolling vehicles are cheaper to transport than non-rolling vehicles) and of course the total distance of the transport.
